Whatcom County Fire District #14
receives Homeland Security Grant
Whatcom County Fire District #14 has received a grant of $85,800 from the 2005 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The award is part of $650 million being distributed by the agency to fire departments across the nation.
District #14 will use the funds to purchase new personal protective equipment for the district’s firefighters. This is the second grant District #14 has received from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
“Our firefighters are our community’s first-line responders to fires, accidents and disasters,” said District #14 Commissioner Bob Baisden. “The grant funds will help us buy new protective gear for our firefighters, helping to keep them safe as they work to protect our community.”
