October is fire safety month! We were happy to be visited by the Kendall kindergarten students at our Kendall Fire Station. Three classes learned about fire safety.
Many thanks to Jim Millson of Glacier Fire Department. Once again, he was that super special fire safety instructor. He read the kids stories and made them laugh. Then we talked about Fire Safety. Thank you to firefighter/EMT Anastasia for showing the students what a firefighter looks like all dressed in protective clothes and how to stay low, and go, go GO! And not to be afraid of a firefighter in bunker gear.
The children got a tour of the fire station and saw many kinds of vehicles and where the firefighters put on their bunker gear. We gave out handouts to take home to share with parents.
We hope that parents of kids all ages will take the time to check their smoke alarms and make sure there are new batteries in them. We also hope they talk to all family members about what to do if a smoke alarm goes off. Every family should have a safe meeting place outside the house where they can meet and practice what to do. Let’s keep our families safe!
